have you stitched up a bimaa sweater yet? i confess that this is my first one, and i'm kicking myself for waiting so long to make up this pattern from my pal Sarah of Loubee Clothing.
you can choose to make your bimaa with a shawl collar, cowl, OR hood! yep, that's a lot of great options, my friends. since my girls both love the cowl neck duffles i made them last fall, i decided to go with that option, with a little twist... i made my bimaa a dress!
oh my goodness, i can't tell you how much Brenna loves this dress! (plus, she doesn't think it's pajamas!!!) the super soft sweater knit is from Jo-Ann, and i've already promised to go get some more so that i can make up the same exact dress for Kahlin.
it would seem that this snuggly and comfy dress is perfect for lounging, but not so much for photo shoots... it was quite sunny out yesterday and someone wasn't feeling it. ha!
turning the sweater into a dress was really as simple as lengthening the pattern. i made a size bigger than Brenna measured so that i would have a little more ease in the body of the dress, and i also omitted the cuffs in favor of hemmed edges because that seemed to fit better with this style.
as with Sarah's other patterns (you know how much i love the hosh pants!), the bimaa is well-written and drafted, and a simple sew that results in a professional-looking garment. i'm smitten! and all of these fab folks are too! check out Sarah's blog, EmmylouBeeDoo, for more great bimaas.
you can get your very own copy of the bimaa pattern right here. and bonus! one lucky reader will win a pdf copy of the pattern...
