sewing: kcw tumble tees

well, i missed day three of kid's clothes week, but i'm back on the wardrobe-building-sewing-challenge-wagon... and day four ended with four new long-sleeved tumble tees for Kahlin.

it feels a little funny to gush about how i love this pattern since it's mine, but i'll do it anyway ;) even including printing and assembling a new pattern piece (since i couldn't find my size eight anywhere), making two dresses and two shirts only took about three hours. and this long sleeve addition? i'm pretty darn happy about that.

Kahlin put on one of the dresses yesterday as soon as she was home from school, and wanted to wear a shirt today, so that she could "show her friends". well, if that doesn't melt a sewing mama's heart, i don't know what does!

as i had hoped, this shirt looks great with her new panda ananda pants from day one! fabrics in both tumble tees shown are from Jo-Ann, and panda sweatshirt fleece is from Girl Charlee.

while we're talking Kahlin, a little adhd update following my post last week...

- we have an appointment in two weeks with the doctor at our pediatrician's office who specializes in adhd to talk about what's going on and medication options before she meets with Kahlin.
- i started reading Taking Charge of ADHD (affiliate link), one of the books recommended by our therapist. so far, the discussion of adhd as a problem with executive functioning (organization and self-regulation) has been the most interesting. it definitely helps to have some perspective about what's going on in her little head.
- last night we had a conference with her two teachers, and i just can't say enough how fabulous they both are. Kahlin's getting good grades and scored in some crazy high percentile in the standard tests she took a few weeks ago. that said, we got confirmation that a lot of things that are a problem at home are also going on at school. if the teachers weren't going out of the way to be so accommodating, i think we'd be hearing a much different story. they also report that Kahlin is creative and kind and enthusiastic, and that they enjoy having her in class. so, yeah, i kinda wanted to hug them :)

i also want to say thank you for all of your comments, emails, high fives, and virtual hugs! i haven't gotten back to everyone that deserves a response yet, but i'm working on it. please just know that the kindness and support of this community means the world to me. this internet thing is so great, amiright?!?

the gnats dogs say, "happy stitching!"
