Hello Gnats readers! I’m really excited about my latest project: a gorgeous modal tri-blend sweater knit Nottingham top made from the Imagine Gnats shop!

You might have seen over on my blog, but I’m hosting a sewing challenge during January and February called Sew Twists and Ties… it’s meant to encourage the sewing community to sew up a pattern that incorporates a twist, knot, or tie detail. This project is perfect for the challenge!

So, this fabric: I just love it! The tri-blend sweater knit is a fabulous blend of rayon, cotton, modal, and spandex, which gives it gorgeous drape, a super soft hand, and a lovely subtle sheen.
The sweater knit has plenty of stretch and great recovery from the spandex, so it’s perfect for the Nottingham Top, which requires 75% stretch vertically and horizontally.

I chose the sweater knit in the ivy colorway, a deep, slightly heathered mossy green. The sweater knit comes in several other colorways, too, though, all suited to mixing and matching with your handmade wardrobe.

I’ve been wanting to make the Itch to Stitch Nottingham Top for a while now, but apparently it took organizing a whole challenge around it for me to finally make this cool twist front top!
This is a size 16 Nottingham top with the long sleeves (there are also elbow length and butterfly sleeves). I was aiming for a cozy winter sweater. Mission accomplished!

I’m quite happy with my sweater knit Nottingham top! The pattern and fabric pair so well together; the top was a super quick and satisfying sew. The twist detail on the top is so cool, too!
I’m liking with the fit, although next time I make it I might consider shortening the bodice length by a couple inches above the twist for a more cropped look.
