Hey everyone! Today I’m sharing a sweet Easter girl’s fringe dress that I sewed up for my oldest. We’re entering the tween years over here, and it means that sewing for this girl isn’t always a treat, BUT when things align, man, do they align! I’ve been dying to sew up the Girl’s Fringe Dress from Chalk and Notch ever since Gabriella hinted at its possible release- I want to say around Christmas time.

And then when this tencel twill in the enzyme wash came up in a conversation, it was a match made in heaven! For this dress Amber really wanted the view B. She wanted a no fuss dress, easy to throw on and easy to pair with whatever she wanted. Yup, definitely getting into the teen years here!

I sewed up the dress with her height measurements rather then her chest since it’s a small opening at the back, and she has some long arms to get through there. I’ve found in the past if I go too close to her chest measurements, that she tends to not wear the outfits much since she has a hard time getting her arms through the armholes.

SO, that being said, with her height, she wound up measuring a size 10. The fit is pretty good on her. In the future I might bring it in about half an inch. I think it’s the most noticeable around her shoulder area, but she loves the way it fits so this one will stay as is.

I absolutely loved the construction of this dress! It’s been a while since I’ve sewn any woven dresses for her, and I feel like this one is so well finished inside and out that it doesn’t feel like a children’s pattern on her. It probably helps that it’s based off the adult version ;) That’s a bonus on my end since some patterns are starting to look more childish on her.

The instructions were really clear, which made the making of the dress go really smoothly. It was also a fairly quick sew! She didn’t want the fuss of anything, so I skipped the waist ties and the pockets. Although in the future if I decide to redo the same size, the waist ties will definitely help cinch the dress in.

So now let’s talk about this fabric real quick! The tencel twill that I used is in the ginger colour way and the enzyme wash is so pretty in person! It just seems to add that little bit of pizzaz to the colour. The fabric is a nice lightweight tencel, and it has a really nice drape, perfect for this Easter girl’s fringe dress!

The first thing she noticed when she put it on was how she loved the fabric rested on her. It was also a great fabric to work with. Even though it’s a lightweight fabric, it didn’t tend to move around like crazy while sewing, which made things so much easier!

I’d love to try another one of the colour ways for a pair of crop pants. Wouldn’t the marsh colour be perfect for the mini Emersons?!? And they’d be perfect for that tween/teen age! So many possibilities!!!
