This post is written by Jane of Buzzmills.

After a mild and sometimes downright hot beginning to our fall, the temperatures around here are finally beginning to coincide with the date on the calendar. Which means…it’s time for cozy clothes! It’s time for some flannels: Specifically flannel mulberry tunics!

There’s not much more snuggly than layering with flannel on cold blustery days, and let me just say that this day was COLD, it was a frigid 32 degrees with a wind chill of about 17!

These Mulberry Tunics made with Robert Kaufman Mammoth Flannel and Shetland Flannel kept these two nice and toasty!

Robert Kaufman flannels are amazingly soft and warm! They have a good weight to them, (like you might just want to drape it around yourself as a blanket and call it right there!) but they aren’t too heavy to layer either, plus their softness just calls for snuggling.

Here both kids layered theirs with wool tees (seen here, fabric here) to keep themselves extra warm, but later once we were out of the wind, they removed their under layer and appreciated the softness of the flannel alone.

The Mulberry Tunic pattern from Coffee & Thread really is a perfect pairing with flannel and perfect for cooler temperatures!

I let my kiddos design their own tunics- choosing what fabric and pattern combinations that they wanted, which was super fun. They each had a little bit of a different take as to how they wanted their tunics to look, so while looking very similar with the same plaid/color combinations, they are also each still unique…

Except when they both chose their mustard colored pants (Henry’s Morroco pants, Violet’s are ready-to-wear) to wear with their new tunics…then they just look like twins, but truthfully they don’t care. Really, all they care about is their new warm and cozy flannel Mulberry tunics!

Because really…flannel! You too would be jumping for JOY over this flannel!

In fact, I was so jealous of their new flannels that I managed to eek out a skirt for myself with some leftover Mammoth Flannel. You can see my skirt here!

What about you? Are you beginning to feel the cold weather creep in? Are you craving some cozy flannels? Are you a plaid or solids person? Or perhaps you too like a mix of both?

You can find these flannels and more right here in the Imagine Gnats Shop. All this week use the discount code FLANNEL20 for 20% off of all flannel. The code is good through Sunday, November 19.

It’s time to get cozy!

Happy Sewing!
