Hi friends! I am happy to be hanging out here again this week. I’m joining in for Flannel Week, and I have all the comfy cozy feels going on with this flannel Linden Sweatshirt!

For years, I’ve drooled over this particular Mammoth Flannel print; it is called Americana. I was so excited to finally get my hands on some! I could only picture it as a cozy shirt to cuddle up with, and the Linden Sweatshirt just stood out in my mind as the perfect match.

Now, obviously, the Linden Sweatshirt is a pattern drafted for knits, and flannel is a woven. But there is plenty of ease written into the pattern, and I decided to use the flannel only for the front and back bodice.

I cut the flannel on the bias and things worked out just great! I made no changes whatsoever, just cut and sewed the straight size I fit into on the size chart!

Prior to cutting, I held the flannel up to my body to help decide if I wanted to cut the print on the bias or not. It was obvious that it had more drape on the bias than on the grain, so that made my decision for me.

I only had a yard of the flannel to work with and was able to juuuust eek out a size 6 on the bias! So if you are a larger size, and want to do the same, be sure to order fabric accordingly.

I paired this flannel with buttery soft and drapey, stretch french terry rayon/lycra in heathered grey, that is also in the shop here. The colors of the two fabrics compliment each other very nicely, and the weights work really well together as well.

As far as sewing this top, I decided to sew the pieces together using a triple stitch (stretch) and a stretch needle. I finished each seam with the serger and topstitched all the bands with a double needle, just the way I would with an all-knit sweatshirt. I’m really pleased with how well this flannel Linden sweatshirt turned out!

The final product is slightly boxy, and I like how it looks paired with my Morgan Jeans!

And let’s be honest. It just makes me want to curl up with a hot cup of coffee on my favorite corner of the couch!

Do you love this mammoth flannel in americana as much I do?? What project would you make with it?

Don’t forget to use the discount code FLANNEL20 for 20% off any flannel in the Imagine Gnats’ shop! The code is good through Sunday, Nov 20 at midnight EST.
